Smart Cookie: DIY Christmas Treats for Dogs

No-Bake Pumpkin & Oat Dog Treat Bits with Flax Seed
Time: 15 min
Yield: 16-25 treats
1 ½ Cups Pumpkin Puree
1 Cup Rolled Oats (divided)
½ Cup Flax Seed (milled)

In a mixing bowl, thoroughly combine pumpkin, ¾ cup of oats, and flax seed. Pinch off pieces of dough and roll into dough balls between hands. You can make them as small as a marble or larger than a golf ball depending on the size of your dog. Roll each bite in remaining oats and set on cookie sheet. Once all of the bites are made, freeze for 15 minutes and serve (humans can eat these too!) Keep refrigerated or frozen.

Peanut Butter and Cranberry Christmas Dog Cookies
Time: 35 min
Yield: 30-40 treats

2 Cups Rice Flour
2 Eggs
1 Cup All-Natural Peanut Butter
¾ Cup Chicken Broth
½ Cup Dried Cranberries

Combine flour and cranberries in mixing bowl. Hollow out a hole in the middle of the flour and add peanut butter, eggs and chicken broth. Mix ingredients together in either an electric mixer or by hand until a soft dough forms. Sprinkle some flour on the counter top and rolling pin. Roll out the dough about ¼-1/2 inch thick. Use your favorite dog-themed or Christmas-themed cookie cutters. Place cookies on cookie sheet lined with parchment paper or covered with a thin layer of vegetable oil. Bake at 350◦ for 20-25 minutes. Allow cookies to cool until crunchy.

Green Bean, Peanut Butter and Oat Wreath and Christmas Tree Dog Treats
Time: 35 min
Yield: 20-40 Treats

1 ½ Cups Oats
1 ½ Cups Green Beans
1 Cup All-Natural Peanut Butter
*Dried Cranberries (optional for decoration)

Mix oats, green beans and peanut butter together in mixing bowl. Knead ingredients until dough forms. Roll dough out to ¼-1/2 inch thick and use your favorite dog-themed or Christmas themed cookie cutters to make cookies. Or, make wreaths by pinching off a piece of dough and rolling it in between your hands to make a dough ball about the size of a golf ball. Press dough ball down flat with your palm, and use your fingers to poke a hole in the middle of the dough patty. Transfer to cookie sheet and add 3 dried cranberries to each wreath for optional decoration. Bake treats at 350◦ for 20 minutes. Allow to cool & serve with your favorite dog-friendly icing.
